Checklist for Memory/Photo Quilts:

  • E-mail: You may send your digital files of photos, personal notes, or kids' drawings, etc. electronically.
  • US Mail: You may mail photos, personal notes, or kids' drawings, etc. to me for scanning. Please include a self-addressed, stamped envelope if you would like to have these item returned to you.
  • Label: If you would like to have a caption or title printed with a certain photo, please write the text on a post-it-note and place it on the back of that photo.
  • Block Size: Please note your desired square size. The blocks in your quilt can be a minimum of 5" x 5" square up to a maximum of 8" x 8" square.
  • Placement: If you would like the photos to be arranged in a specific order, please number them or draw a diagram of where you want each photo to be placed in the quilt. The best arrangement of color and design will be used.
  • Connecting Pieces: You may choose sashing strips that will be sewn in a grid pattern between the photos to "frame" them. (Click the photo for a larger picture.)

Another choice is to add "cornerstones" where the sashing strips cross, which will add detail and a pop of contrasting color. (Click the photo for a larger picture.)

Examples:
Laura is a triplet who wanted to do something special for her two sisters on their birthday. She ordered a quilt for each sister that included some individual photos along with photos of the three sisters together. Their birth date, high school yearbook quote, and a personalized letter from Laura were also worked into the quilt. Minkee was used on the back to make it soft and cuddly.
